Autism, Gender Affirming Care, Lupron’s Dark History, RFK Jr and a New Wave of Eugenics
In the 2000s, giving Lupron to autistic kids to "fix" (& castrate) them was rightly seen as abusive and eugenicist. Now, in the 2020s, under the banner of Gender Affirming Care, it's celebrated
As we know, in the America, US Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr (RFK Jr) wants to create a national autism database, gather a list of every autistic person in the US, collect medical histories, environmental exposure data, and other information and use this data to try to identify “causes” of autism.
RFK Jr recently made the statement:
By September, we will know what has caused the autism epidemic and we’ll be able to eliminate those exposures
As we already know, autism is genetic, meaning it is passed down through the generations via reproduction.
His insistence that he doesn’t believe autism is genetic, but is instead caused by vaccines or other environmental causes is convenient and alarming.
RFK Jr has now hired disgraced David Geier, who has an autism scandal in his history, to oversee the research attempting to link autism to vaccination. In 2011, the state of Maryland found that Geier was practicing medicine without a license, including prescribing medications (Lupron) to block puberty among autistic children, with devastating effects. He claimed Lupron is a “miracle drug” that can cure autism.
There is a long history of trying to eradicate autism and/or cure autistic people and Evidence Based Autism has written on the history of eugenics and autism here.
Brenna Pérez/Perezbrenna on TikTok uploaded a concerned video about RFK Jr’s new recruit David Geier and his history with autism and Lupron. Yet, no one seems to be connecting the dots… read the comments sections too, to see what viewers are saying... and completely missing.
The Lupron Scandal in Autism History:
Mark Geier (an actual doctor, though later stripped of his license) and David Geier (his son, no medical license) pushed a theory in the late 1990s and 2000s that autism was caused by mercury toxicity from vaccines (the old, debunked "thimerosal" scare).
What was their "treatment"?
They claimed that autistic kids had too much testosterone, which supposedly made mercury toxicity worse (this had zero scientific basis).
Their solution? Chemically castrate autistic kids with Lupron, a drug used to suppress sex hormones.Lupron’s effects:
Stops puberty: Blocks testosterone and estrogen production.
Long-term risks: Bone loss, infertility, cardiovascular risks, impaired brain development, severe emotional effects.
What happened?
The Geiers were prescribing dangerously high doses.
They experimented on children without real oversight.
They got sued, stripped of medical licenses (Mark), and fined (David).
States like Maryland, Virginia, Texas, and others took action to ban them from practicing.
Bottom line:
They harmed autistic kids permanently. Some lost fertility, had bone damage, developmental issues, or were emotionally traumatised.
Lupron’s Current Usage in Transgender Healthcare:
In "gender-affirming care", Lupron (and similar drugs) are now widely used for puberty blockers:
Given to kids (sometimes as young as 9) who experience gender dysphoria
Suppresses physical development of puberty (breasts, voice changes, menstruation, etc.).
Medical community stance:
The mainstream claim is that puberty blockers are safe, "fully reversible", and just "buy time" for decision-making.
We are still seeing medical scandals like Geiers today, as reported by Khou News just this week in the US. (News video included below).
Two Texas doctors in gender-affirming care will no longer be allowed to practice medicine. They provided high doses of cross-sex hormones to underage patients, then falsified diagnosis and billing codes to cover it up.
Partners for Ethical Care (PEC) posted a news clip on X “Two doctors, May Lau and M. Brett Cooper, will no longer practice medicine on patients after being sued by Texas AG Ken Paxton. We are beginning to see "gender-affirming" providers held accountable for the harm they've done to young people! Video courtesy of @KHOU News.”
Autism Organisations and Charities support the use of Lupron in gender-affirming care for autistic people, including the controversial Autism Speaks who have been heavily criticised by the autism community for their negative views of autism and trying to eradicate it from the gene-pool. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out their advert about their view of autism's place in the world (it is HORRIFYING!).
BUT growing concerns include:
Long-term infertility, especially if blockers are followed by cross-sex hormones.
Impaired bone density, sometimes permanently, cardiovascular problems, brain development effects, etc.
Unknown psychological and neurological effects (especially if started early and taken for a long time).
Emotional numbing, cognitive changes, loss of sexual function later.
Recent lawsuits are emerging from detransitioners who regret medical transition and claim they weren't adequately informed.
There has now, finally, been one Danish Autism Organisation that has raised concerns regarding autism and gender affirming care: Autism-og Aspergerforeningen, whom I’ve reported on previously here, here and here, and again on 27.05.25 here.
UPDATE: Autisme-og Aspergerforeningen DID talk about Lupron usage in autistic children in their Gender Consultation Response:
Autisme-og Aspergersforeningen views with great concern the current guidance on healthcare assistance for gender incongruence, particularly in relation to the medical treatments offered to children and young people. The guidance allows the use of potent hormone preparations, which were originally developed for the treatment of hormone-sensitive prostate cancer and are in some cases used for chemical castration of pedophiles ( Appendix 1 ). This raises a serious question: Are we witnessing a new form of medical conversion therapy aimed at autistic children and young people?
Less than 20 years ago, attempts were made to “normalize” autism ( Appendix 2 ) and cure homosexuality ( Appendix 3 ) using the same types of hormone preparations that are used today for sex-modifying treatment , including Cyproterone acetate (Androcur) , Spironolactone , GnRH analogues (stop hormones) such as Leuprorelin , and the like. History has shown that medical experiments on autistic children have had serious consequences – and yet we are on the way to repeating the mistakes of the past.
Why No One Connects the Dots (But Should):
Historical amnesia:
The public has almost forgotten the Geier scandal. Media rarely talks about it.
Different framing:
The Geiers pushed Lupron as a “miracle drug helping people and families” but were eventually framed as quacks experimenting unethically on autistic kids.
Gender-affirming care is framed as compassionate, progressive medicine - even though it uses the same drugs, on the same population. But, we are in the midst of recognising it as yet another experimental, activist-led medical ideology…
The Cass Report raises significant concerns about the evidence base supporting medical interventions such as puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. The Report concludes that the current evidence supporting medical interventions for gender dysphoria in youth is weak and insufficient. Specifically, it notes a lack of robust data on the long-term safety and efficacy of puberty blockers (including Lupron) and cross-sex hormones. The rationale for early puberty suppression remains unclear, with weak evidence regarding the impact on gender dysphoria, physical or psychosocial health. The effect on cognitive and psychosexual development remains unknown.
Due to these uncertainties, the Review recommends that such treatments be considered experimental and only provided within the context of carefully monitored clinical trials. Consequently, NHS England has ceased the routine use of puberty blockers for gender dysphoria in children, limiting their use to clinical research settings.
Political pressure to use the “affirmation-only model” has meant clinicians and other professionals have found it difficult to take an evidence-based stance when providing medical care to patients. This has also meant that professionals have ignored the rate of autism prevalent in patients and leaving autism as a factor in their gender distress unaddressed.
High autism rates in gender clinics:
Studies (especially from places like Tavistock Clinic in the UK) have found that 20–35% (or even more) of youth seeking gender treatment are autistic - compared to ~1-2% of the general population.
Estimate autistic traits occur in up to 30–40% of gender-diverse young people.
That’s a huge overrepresentation.
The Tavistock ignored “link” between autism and “trans” children.
Key concern:
Autistic people often:Have black-and-white thinking.
Have intense identity quests.
Feel socially isolated or "wrong."
May misinterpret gender discomfort as being "in the wrong body."
If autistic kids are disproportionately being medicated with Lupron, which can cause permanent infertility, and if autism is an inherited neurotype, then:
Mass sterilisation of autistic people is happening - even if it's not "intentional" or "conscious" by medical authorities.
This could be considered a soft form of eugenics. (Preventing future autistic people by sterilising current ones.)
In summary:
In the 2000s, giving Lupron to autistic kids to "fix" them was rightly seen as abusive and eugenicist.
Now, in the 2020s, giving Lupron to autistic kids (under a different banner) is celebrated - but may have the same outcomes.
Few people want to connect these dots, because it's politically explosive.
(It would anger both the "progressive" side supporting gender medicine and the "conservative" side that already rejected the Geiers.)
This is a huge, uncomfortable ethical blindspot.
Puberty Blockers + Autism: Brain Development Risks
Here’s what’s especially concerning:
Puberty is critical for brain maturation.
Brain structures like the prefrontal cortex (responsible for decision-making, impulse control, identity formation) are shaped by sex hormones during adolescence.
Suppressing puberty interrupts these natural processes at a critical window.
Autistic brains are already differently wired in areas related to social skills, executive function, and sensory processing.
Delaying or altering brain development in autistic youth with Lupron could exacerbate difficulties.
It may lock in cognitive immaturities, worsen executive dysfunction, or impair emotional regulation.
Key concern: Autistic youth may have a different understanding of "identity" than neurotypical youth.
Decisions made in youth, during high vulnerability, may not reflect true, stable, adult desires.
Detransitioners often say: "I didn’t understand the full consequences."
Whistleblowers + Major Thinkers Speaking Out
Dr. Hilary Cass (lead of the UK's Cass Review):
Found that gender services were not properly assessing complex cases, especially autistic youth.
Warned that autistic kids are often fast-tracked to blockers without enough psychological exploration.
Called the current "affirmation-only" model unsafe and unethical.
Dr. Marcus Evans (former Tavistock governor):
Resigned and publicly stated that Tavistock was failing to protect vulnerable kids - especially autistic ones.
Said there was "an unquestioning approach" instead of critical psychological assessment.
Sue Evans (whistleblower nurse at Tavistock):
Raised alarms years ago about rushed medicalisation of kids with autism, trauma, or other psychiatric conditions.
Stella O'Malley (Irish psychotherapist, founder of Genspect):
Actively argues that many autistic youth are not receiving the care they actually need — instead they are pushed toward irreversible medical interventions.
Why This Could Be Seen as Eugenics
Historically, eugenics means reducing the reproduction of "undesirable" populations.
If autistic kids are:
Overrepresented in trans clinics,
Given Lupron (which can cause permanent infertility),
Without full understanding (due to their cognitive/developmental differences),
Then even if unintended, it’s effectively sterilising a vulnerable minority group.
Intent isn’t the only thing that matters; outcomes matter too.
Just like the Geiers sterilised autistic kids under the "cure autism" banner,
Now it’s happening under the "affirm gender identity" banner,
But the result is still the mass sterilisation of autistic individuals - many of whom are not being fully informed.
Thanks for this. I was unfamiliar with the Geirs. Some hospitals are quite blatant about their gender/ autism programs and connectedness. Children's National in Washington, D.C. has called their clinic the Gender and Autism Clinic. They cannot deny it. Check out their staff. WPATH and the crossover between this program and Children's National Youth Pride Clinic reign. It's evil.

Thanks for writing about the harm being done to young autistic people. See also my article on Planned Parenthood's supply of testosterone to girls and young women, many of whom are likely to be autistic. This of course leads to atrophy of the female reproductive system, often leading in turn to hysterectomy. While Planned Parenthood has apologised for targeting black women, it has yet to apologise for targeting women with learning disabilities over the last hundred years.
